About this ride

This is the only multi-day ride on the site: three days of road cycling in the Pyrenees, covering 320 km with 7,400 m of climbing. A van follows the group, a mechanic looks after the bikes and a hotel is waiting at the end of each day, so your only job is to ride.

The numbers work out at roughly 107 km and 2,470 m of climbing per day on average. That means long, sustained mountain passes day after day, not a single big effort. Fatigue builds, and pacing matters as much as fitness.

Compared with the Cadiz Big Climb Morning, which is a hard half day, this camp asks you to repeat that kind of effort three times running. Compared with the Costa Brava coast road ride from Cadiz, there is little rolling tarmac to rest on. It suits fit, experienced road riders who want a proper cycling holiday without worrying about luggage, repairs or logistics.

  • 320 km and 7,400 m of climbing over three days
  • Van support following the group
  • Mechanic on hand for the whole camp
  • Hotel accommodation between riding days
  • Road-bike camp for fit, experienced riders

Who this camp suits

This is a hard ride and should be treated as one. You should be comfortable riding around 100 km with well over 2,000 m of climbing, and ready to do it again the next day and the day after. Previous experience of long mountain passes on a road bike is the best preparation.

It is a poor fit for first-time road riders, families or anyone who has only done flat days. If you are building up, the Cadiz Big Climb Morning is a sensible test first. Check the minimum age and any bike hire options with the partner when booking.

What three days in the Pyrenees involve

Expect each day to be built around one or more mountain passes, with long climbs followed by long descents. Over the three days the route totals 320 km and 7,400 m of ascent, so the average day is about 107 km with around 2,470 m of climbing.

The exact daily split, start points and hotel towns are set by the organiser, so ask for the day-by-day plan when you book. Because this is a road camp, expect tarmac throughout, with descents that need care when you are tired.

How the support works

A van travels behind the group, which means you can ride without carrying more than the essentials for the day. A mechanic is on hand for adjustments and repairs, which matters on a trip where a mechanical problem could otherwise end a day's ride early.

Each night is spent in a hotel, so you can eat, wash and recover properly before the next climb. Ask the partner what the van carries, how luggage is handled and whether meals are covered, as those details are not fixed here.

Choosing this over the other tours

The Cadiz Volcano Gravel Day and the Cadiz Forest Gravel Loop are off-road days with a single evening back home. This camp is all road and all mountains, and it removes the daily commute. If you want scenery with less effort, the Costa Brava coast road ride from Cadiz is 118 km of rolling tarmac without the sustained altitude gain.

Choose the camp if you want to spend several consecutive days doing nothing but riding.
